Helping residents in our neighbourhoods

The best thing about being a neighbourhood manager is when you’ve gone out of your way to help someone and it’s made a real difference.

Shantel Moncrieffe Neighbourhood Manager

I’m a neighbourhood manager for Cranberry Lane estate in West Ham. At this estate I am responsible for inspections and ongoing improvements, as well as helping residents with any issues relating to their tenancies or repairs and maintenance.

My job is to be there for residents. I help them with any housing issues but it’s also my job to make sure they are happy where they living. Like all the neighbourhood managers, I hold weekly surgeries on my estate when residents can come and talk to me in confidence.

With the help of the local Safer Neighbourhoods team I have also arranged for a mobile police station to come to Cranberry Lane monthly. This has proved popular as the closest police station is Forest Gate.

The best thing about being a neighbourhood manager is when you’ve gone out of your way to help someone and it’s made a real difference. One elderly lady told me she wanted to redecorate her home but felt she couldn’t do it anymore. I told her I could arrange to have her home painted - she didn’t even realise that this is something I could do!
